Washington Rep. Susan Davis of California, the second-highest-ranking Democrat on the House Education and Labor Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, will not seek reelection in 2020, she announced on Wednesday.
Davis will retire at the end of her current term after representing California's 53rd District since 2001. She said her decision was"very difficult" and"represents a desire to live and work 'at home' in San Diego.""This is tough for me. There are always compelling issues and challenges that have encouraged me to pursue each new election cycle," she said in a letter to her constituents.
