The Devils are closing in on an extension with forward Nathan Bastian, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday.
Bastian logged 15 points and was a valuable fourth-line winger en route to New Jersey’s first playoff run in five years this season. He had two points – one goal and one assist – in 12 postseason games this year. The Devils did not extend Bastian a qualifying offer Friday afternoon, but remained confident that they could ink him to a deal in unrestricted free agency.
