An independent report commissioned by the former Labor government highlighted concerns that the infrastructure demands of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games could jeopardize other vital projects. The report, obtained under the Right to Information Act, analyzed government work programs for the next decade across sectors like housing, energy, transport, and health. It warned of a significant risk that the pipeline of hospital projects, including new hospitals in Coomera and Toowoomba, might be unachievable by 2032 due to resource allocation for Olympics-related construction. The report also predicted that transport projects in south-east Queensland would likely be prioritized for the Games, exacerbating capacity constraints.
