Across the US Labor Day events were being cancelled left, right and centre. Every search for a bit of colour and fun was turning up empty handed. Except the “Boat for Trump” Parades.
US Election Analysis | Annelise Nielsen The parades are a relatively new phenomenon. A few places claim to have started the idea, but they really took off in Florida. This year, no pandemic was going to slow these supporters down. So we decided to go check one out. Our unscientific search for a boat parade lead us to a sizeable looking one in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Moments later she was in our back seat directing us to her friends house. The friend immediately gave us coffee and started ringing around. 20 minutes later we were boarding a pontoon belonging to a couple called Ron and Diane. There’s a special kind of mid-west hospitality you don’t see anywhere else. Spending the day with a group Trump supporters you’re confronted with the reality that many Australians find uncomfortable, or simply can’t compute.
