Emergency services are battling poor conditions as they resume a search for a missing rock fisher in the Royal National Park, south of Sydney.

A police spokesperson said police and the family held "serious concerns for the man's welfare" because he suffered from a medical condition that required attention.Marine Rescue NSW vessel Botany Port Hacking 30 has been deployed, as have police divers, with support from Surf Lifesaving on skis. Skipper of the Botany Port Hacking Brad Whittaker said the crews were contending with deteriorating conditions off the Illawarra Coast."There is one-and-a-half metres of south swell and 15 knots of southerly wind, which is expected to increase across the day."Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Steve Raymond said they were hoping for better conditions after a "hard" search yesterday in heavy rain and wind.

"Today, our Botany Port Hacking 30 vessel with our volunteers will head out with water police and continue the searching," he said.On Sunday, crews from Marine Rescue, Police Marine Command, SES and Surf Life Saving searched Burning Palms up to Jibbon Head, covering 20 nautical miles offshore, between 9am and 3pm.Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man on Saturday to contact them.

It's understood he may have intended to fish at Eagle Rock in the Royal National Park, between Wattamolla and Garie beaches.The man was last seen wearing black track pants and a black parka jacket.
