Residents have their theories

Residents of Blackpool have been left baffled to see a car floating in a flooded field - which hasn't moved for weeks.

The body of the Mini is covered in dents, and has a smashed headlight and back window. Currently, the water level around the vehicle is high enough that the tyres are nearly submerged, and the number plate is obscured. The field is one of many places to have experienced levels of flooding in recent weeks. Blackpool and the rest of Lancashire has been covered by a number of weather warnings, with heavy rain and high winds battering the county. Up to 80mm of rain were expected to in some places.
