Queensland Police have warned its residents about a scam on the rise where fraudsters pose as officers or government officials to steal their private information.
Police in one state are warning residents about a rising scam from fraudsters using a"trusted or well-known" phone number in a bid to steal personal details from their victims.
However, they can begin to ask for a payment to stop some sort of action against you or for personal information to confirm your identity. “Police, or any other legitimate government department or financial institution, will never call you and ask for your personal banking information or payments in gift cards, cryptocurrency or money transfers," she said.
