'People are really scared...they just don't feel safe there'
Residents on the Northampton street where a 31-year-old man was shot in the head on Saturday night are "really scared", according to a local councillor. Some are worried about potential reprisals if they speak out, while others now plan to move, she added.
Police said yesterday that the man's injuries were a result of being shot, and that he remained in hospital in a critical condition. Officers are continuing to ask people with information or footage of the shooting to come forward.Police remained in Southampton Road this morning. Residents told Northants Live that the shooting took place outside Towcester Road Methodist Church.
Councillor Julie Davenport, independent councillor for Delapre and Rushmere, said: "People are really scared. They just don't feel safe there, which is understandable when you've got young children." Residents have contacted Cllr Davenport to provide her with information, and to make known their worries and fears following the shooting. She said that many did so anonymously because "they're scared of reprisals".At NorthantsLive we're more than just news.
