Lando takes aim at Piastri's overtake | 03:19Oscar Piastri’s lap-one move on Lando Norris for the lead of the Italian Grand Prix reflected his reputation as a “respectful, hard, clean” racer, according to Mark Webber , despite subsequent criticism that the young gun damaged his teammate’s title chances .
With Norris also losing a place to eventual winner Charles Leclerc in the shock of the unexpected pass, some subsequently criticised Piastri for sacrificing the team’s result in pursuit of personal glory. It was a high-profile demonstration of the precision that has characterised Piastri’s on-track style and has him regarded as a future great of the sport.
“He just wants to earn his stripes, go out there and do his talking on the track, and that’s what he’s done so well in the last five years.”
