Nomad restaurant owner Al Yazbek has pleaded guilty to charges of knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol in public after holding a sign with a swastika at a Pro-Palestine rally.

Mr Yazbek held a sign showing a swastika superimposed on an Israeli flag in place of the Star of David, accompanied by the text “Stop Nazi Israel” at a protest in Sydney to mark the anniversary of October 7 earlier this month.

On Wednesday it was revealed Mr Yazbek stepped down as co-director of Nomad Group as his wife Rebecca Yazbek revealed his actions had left her “furious” and heartbroken”. Members of the Sydney Jewish community said Robert and Geula Burke, whose company Hanave Pty Ltd owns the building the restaurant is in, were “unhappy” with Mr Yazbek's conduct, according to The Australian. “You can be sure that I will do all I can to regain the trust of my wonderful staff, our loyal customers, and the broader community.
