Labor Senator Kimberly Kitching says she supports the notion of an examination into the measures rolled out to handle the coronavirus pandemic but concedes some of the harsh restrictions were necessary. She told Sky News the proposed examination was “part of being in a society like ours where there is openness and transparency”.
“I think people want as much normalcy as quickly as they can and if these restrictions work then hopefully we are going to get back there more quickly,” she said. “Of course people want this over but they also don’t want to go back into another lockdown later on in the year.” Ms Kitching said there were hard measures implemented at every level of government in an effort to “try and have the best health response that is available.
