Return to Oz: Jihadist Neil Prakash to face terror trial in Australia | KnottMatthew
The planned return of Islamic State terrorist Neil Prakash to face charges in Australia has been hailed as an “impressive accomplishment” by Australian authorities after years of diplomatic wrangling.
“If given the opportunity, Mr Prakash would harm or kill Australians, and our country is a safer place for him having lost his Australian citizenship,” Dutton said at the time. A year later, the Australian government described Prakash as “the principal Australian reaching back from the Middle East” into networks in Melbourne and Sydney.
William Stoltz, policy director at the Australian National University’s National Security College, said: “The persistence of Australia’s diplomatic corps, intelligence officials, and law enforcement agencies to achieve this extradition – seven years after his arrest in Turkey – is an impressive accomplishment.

Australia needs to move from ‘fear to facts’ on small nuclear modulesSiyeva Consulting Principal Adi Paterson says Australia needs to move from “fear to facts” around small nuclear modules and from the “fable about renewables” being able to maintain baseload power. “We are seeing people come to the realisation that intermittent renewables are completely at odds with how we actually want to have our power,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “The key issue is that nuclear if you say it very quickly, can sound frighting or expensive. “But if you integrate modern small modular plants into the existing grid that we have … we can have these safe, always on, always available plants keeping the price of electricity down. “
