Australians who were impacted by the floods, paid for COVID-19 tests and worked from home over the last year can claim back cash at tax time - but there's a 'golden rule' which must be followed. Here's what you need to know.
Australian residents who paid for a COVID-19 test and forked out cash for flood-related and working from home expenses can now claim a deduction on their tax returns.
Director of Tax Communication at H&R Block Mark Chapman said the"golden rule" is that a claim cannot be made without proof the money has been spent - and also that it wasn't reimbursed by an employer. Workers can begin to lodge their returns after June 30 and have until October 31 to file their claims. Picture: Getty Images
