A hazard-reduction burn by his neighbour late last week spread onto his 57-hectare property west of Port Macquarie."He had notified neighbours, he had done all that he had to do, and it was just one of those things in the night that slipped away from him and encroached."Mr Mayne said when the fire jumped into a forestry area between their two properties, his neighbour "did the right thing straight away and got in touch with the Rural Fire Service".
