One week out from Barrenjoey’s much-anticipated bonus day and rival Goldman Sachs is poised like a cobra ready to strike.
Street Talk understands Barrenjoey’s Eugene Budovsky has been lured across to Goldman as head of Australian electric trading. Budovsky will be based in Sydney and work closely with the regional execution team to grow product innovation for clients, sources said.
Separately, James Ronaldson has been appointed head of high touch execution after three years at Goldman Sachs. His promotion was announced internally on Friday.As this column has flagged, Barrenjoey’s envelope day is coming up and is expected to be closely watched by rivals and investors. The firm has landed some chunky deals – French giant Saint-Gobain’s $4.3 billion bid for CSR Limited, NYSE-listed Metals Acquisition Corp’s dual listing and of course, Guzman y Gomez IPO.
