Cool new fan-made posters preview the returns of Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Maggie and Negan in all three upcoming The Walking Dead Universe spinoffs. AMC’s The Walking Dead may have come to an end a few weeks ago with its dramatic season 11 finale. But the TWD Universe is set to live on via a trio of planned spinoffs centered on beloved long-time TWD characters.
The first of these three spinoffs, the Maggie-and-Negan-led The Walking Dead: Dead City, is in fact set to debut on AMC in April 2023. Later in the year, AMC is set to unleash the self-explanatory Daryl Dixon and then Rick & Michonne. Not much has been shared so far by way of promoting any of these upcoming spinoffs, but luckily fan artist akithefull has swooped in to fill the void, creating a trio of posters hyping the soon-to-arrive shows.
Daryl Dixon indeed seems to possess the greatest potential to truly build out the Walking Dead universe and perhaps nudge things toward a distant endgame. For its part, Dead City will stick much closer to home, taking place in New York. It also seems the show will largely focus on the ever-tense dynamic between its main characters Maggie and Negan, perhaps making it seem a little less interesting than Daryl’s foray to Europe.
How The Spinoffs Can Set Up A True Walking Dead Universe Finale TWD fans will no doubt be glad to see their favorite characters back in these new adventures. But are these new spinoffs in fact building up to anything? Or are the powers-that-be at AMC content to simply create more Walking Dead content with no larger plan in mind?
It does indeed seem that some larger design is in play, given the pains that were taken to set up the CRM and to tease the goings-on in Europe, where it seems the virus originated in the first place. One could in fact imagine a scenario where the three new spinoffs set up a true TWD Universe finale involving a reunion of the five fan-favorite characters, and perhaps other returning characters like Carol, for one last TWD movie or limited series.
