‘Ridiculous situation’: AFL clubs’ membership ‘promises’ in spotlight after Grand Final ticket furore
“The allocation to club members has gone up … 17 is still not enough.
“It’s just the day of the year that everything gets a bit lost and members get lost who are sitting in the cold in the middle of May who are paying $1000 or $900 .“We’ve got clubs saying, ‘become a member, become a member’ – we’ve got a ridiculous situation where club membership is breaking 100,000 members. And they are promising a lot.
“There were 37 P1 Members who did not select the Standing Room option and, as such, missed out on tickets through the automated ballot – we will sort each of those 37 Members directly to ensure they have a seat. “I want to be clear, Priority Two and Priority Three Members were not allocated tickets prior to P1, however, accessible requirement Members were fulfilled yesterday.“We call on Ticketek to improve their system so that the moment funds are taken out of bank accounts, tickets are released to members immediately.”co-host Gerard Whateley said he feared the grand final ticket issue would continue to repeat if a solution wasn’t put in place off the back of what Magpies’ fans endured.
