Keir Starmer opened hostilities at PMQs by jibing at Liz Truss 's new book, saying her tax-cutting mini-Budget had caused 'misery for millions'.
Rishi Sunak swiped at Keir Starmer for his defence of Angela Rayner over her homes row during bruising PMQs clashes today.
'All I would say is he ought to spend a bit less time reading that book and a bit more time reading the deputy leader's tax advice,' Mr Sunak said in the Commons. He tried to switch the focus back to Ms Truss, saying Mr Sunak needed to admit that 'wild, unfunded tax cuts crashed the economy'.However, Mr Sunak contrasted his own record with Sir Keir campaigning to put Jeremy Corbyn in Downing Street.
Ms Rayner has been facing allegations she wrongly declared on the electoral roll that she was living at a former council house she had bought under right-to-buy rules when she was living primarily at her then-husband Mark's home a mile away in Lowndes Lane in Stockport, Greater Manchester. He stressed that launching an investigation was a 'neutral act' and did not mean there was 'hard and fast evidence' to base anything on.
