Rishi Sunak dodged questions on independence and Prince Harry’s controversial book on his first trip to Scotland as Prime Minister.
Although Sunak said he wanted a positive relationship with the Scottish Government, the brief trip became overshadowed by bitter political rows. “Those are the challenges that we really need to tackle. And today's announcement is a good example of us working constructively with the Scottish Government to try and make a difference on some of those things. And that's the priority that I have.”
“So we will receive advice – the Government will receive advice – about the potential impact of that legislation across the United Kingdom. And after receiving that advice the Government will decide about what the most appropriate next steps are.” Sunak also refused to comment on the explosive allegations in Prince Harry’s book, but pointedly said he is “incredibly proud” of the Royal Family:
