One major criticism of The Rising of the Shield Hero has been the handling of Raphtalia's character, but season 3 is trying to fix it.

While Raphtalia started off with plenty of agency, that gradually faded away as the series began to focus primarily on her relationship with Naofumi. Season 2 was especially bad in that regard thanks to how much content was cut out, as Raphtalia was one of many characters who was left underdeveloped.
