But spending is expected to rise again as the result of billions of dollars in election promises to be made in the lead-up to the November 26 state poll. The budget will include billions of dollars worth of spending to fix the state’s beleaguered health system, including money for hospital upgrades, nurses, paramedics and emergency service call takers.
Andrews said he did not believe in Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s mantra that voters want government out of their lives. He said some things, such as healthcare, should be a universal right.
