“The Government hasn’t issued the guidance in detail and so this is why it is here,” the Chingford MP said.But ministers suffered a rebellion 13 Tories, including Mr Loughton and Ms Ford, as well as ex-Cabinet ministers Sir Robert Buckland and Damian Green, who voted to restrict the detention of lone children to 72 hours.

Among the Lords amendments gutted were calls from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby for a 10-year strategy to tackle the migration crisis, including safe and legal routes.
