The centre-backs were head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch in Friday’s win at Sheffield Wednesday and came in for widespread praise post-match.
“Yes, they deserve to be more in the spotlight,” he said. “They were outstanding today. We had one or two weaknesses in the positioning in front of them or next to them, but they won each and every crucial duel.”Junior Firpo was one of those who created a lot more work for Ampadu with his errors in the backline. More than just their reaction to those instances, Farke was impressed with the leadership and mental attributes shown by his defenders.
