When Rogue was first introduced in 1981's Avengers Annual #10 she was actually a super villain, the adopted daughter of Brotherhood of Evil Mutants members Mystique and Destiny, and famously almost killed Captain Marvel with her ability. Eventually Rogue would be brought to Charles Xavier in an attempt to teach her how to control her powers, which were affecting her sanity, and since then she has become a staple and fan-favorite member of Marvel's Merry Mutants.
