Rohit Sharma ’s knee injury is not a concern ahead of the Boxing Day Test match. The India captain indicated a possible return to his usual opening batting position in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar series. The 37-year-old sustained a blow to his knee while practicing in the nets on Sunday but stated on Tuesday that he was “fine”. Rohit also remained ambiguous about his batting position in the upcoming Test.
After missing the first Test win in Perth due to parental leave, he batted at No.6 in Adelaide and Brisbane. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal have performed well as opening batsmen in Rohit’s absence, but the captain’s recent struggles at No.6 have fueled speculation about a return to his preferred position. Rohit, however, downplayed the discussion about his batting position, stating that the team will decide based on what is best for their success. He also expressed confidence in Virat Kohli, who has been struggling with his form since scoring a century in the first Test. Rohit believes that modern-day greats will find their own way and doesn’t offer Kohli any advice. India will play at the MCG, a happy hunting ground for them, having won their last two Tests there
