Former manager Sir Alex Ferguson also arrived at Carrington on Tuesday morning, though it’s not clear whether he will take part in the discussions.
Ronaldo has a year left on his United contract after re-joining from Juventus last August, though there is an option for a further year. There has been some suggestion that United could agree to a one-year loan elsewhere on the proviso that he would return to the club in 2023 to play Champions League football .
Ronaldo, who was United’s top scorer with 24 goals last season, has been training at the Portuguese national team’s headquarters in Lisbon.
