Roosters Coach Trent Robinson Presents Premiership Ring to Missed Grand Final Player Watson
NRL, Sydney Roosters, Trent Robinson

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson honored former player Connor Watson by gifting him his premiership medal ring after Watson missed the grand final due to a head injury assessment, continuing a tradition of recognizing contributions from players who could not participate in the decider.

Watson, who is Dragons-bound, was scratched from the grand final after failing to have his category one HIA overturned during the week. WHAT'S GAMBLING REALLY COSTING YOU?

“Connor Watson of course missed the grand final with that head knock last week. Well, Trent Robinson after the game, when he was given his premiership medal ring, walked straight across to Connor and gave it to him and said, ‘thanks for everything you’ve done for the club, sorry you couldn’t play but this is your reward for your contribution at the Roosters,” Rothfield said.

It’s Robinson’s fourth title at the Chooks and it’s the third time he’s given his ring to a player who missed out on the decider. In 2018, Robinson gave prop Lindsay Collins his ring after Collins was dropped for the grand final for Dylan Napa, who was returning from suspension. Robinson boasts an incredible grand final record in the NRL.
