The English winger has been in hospital for over a week after suffering headaches and swelling to his face that resulted in one of his eyes closing.

Sydney Roosters star recruit Dominic Young is in a serious but stable condition in hospital in the United Kingdom after a sinus infection spread to his brain last week.

He is currently receiving treatment and isn’t expected to be discharged from hospital for another week. The Roosters are confident he will be fit to play in round one next season, but the infection and expected recovery time may have an impact on his pre-season training program with his new club. The Roosters sent physiotherapist Steph Brennan, who is in England as part of the Tongan medical staff, to check up on their prized recruit in hospital. The club was awaiting details from Young’s doctors when contacted by theYoung, who was one of Newcastle’s best players on their inspired run into the finals this year, signed a four-year deal back in February to join the Roosters in 2024.
