In an exclusive interview with Fin Magazine, Byrne discusses the founding of her production company, Dollhouse Pictures.

Dollhouse is comprised of Byrne, actor and writer Krew Boylan, publicist Jessica Carrera and directors Shannon Murphy and Gracie Otto. “The script forwas a big reason we wanted to start the company,” says Byrne. “We are all from very different backgrounds but we wanted to band together and start a company that can focus on female narratives. Not just female narratives, but it was important to have a firm perspective on that.
While the company is busy with a slate of projects that include an adaptation of Australian author Hannah Kent’s, the New York-based Byrne says she is keeping an eye on current events to inspire future stories. She has followed the #metoo reckonings in Australia, particularly regarding Grace Tame and Brittany Higgins. “They are the kinds of stories we want to pursue at Dollhouse,” she says. “We’ve had many different ideas across the table.
