The city of Rosenberg, Texas, has received a new ladder truck for its fire department. The new apparatus cost the city $1.4 million.A year and a half after its purchase was approved, the Rosenberg Fire Department is now in possession of its latest firefighting beast: a Tower No. 4 ladder truck.
When first approved by the city council on July 6, 2021, the contracted amount was $1.4 million for the new truck, which was built by a Wisconsin-based company. According to consultant Michael Pietsch with P.E. Consulting Services, Inc, “without the purchase of the truck, the city’s ISO rating would increase from a level 2 to a level 3 which could result in an 8 percent increase in home insurance premiums and a 2 percent increase for commercial businesses.”
The new truck is expected to be housed at the Fort Bend EMS facility at 4336 Highway 36 S. When that decision was made, it gave the city credit for transitioning the facility into a fully functioning fire station in the southwest portion of the city, according to a city report.
