NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says a rostering system may be used to stagger the return to classroom schooling in term two, rather than encouraging all students to return at once.
"I want to stress this does not mean all students are going back. This does not mean all classrooms will be full," Ms Berejiklian said. "Students will not be at school full time, students will not be in a classroom with all of their classmates. It will be a limited number of students everyday," Ms Berejiklian said.Ms Berejiklian said that without a plan to stagger the return to school, students could face up to a year or longer at home.

NSW schools have a 'range of options on the table' for term two | Sky News AustraliaNSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell says “our message has always been schools are open for any child who needs to attend, that has always been the case throughout New South Wales”. \n\nParents have been left confused after Prime Minister Scott Morrison has advised parents to send their children back to school while the Victorian premier said the state’s schools would remain online where possible. \n\nMs Mitchell told Sky News the education sector had a “range of options on the table” and “we know it is important to make sure children have that connection to their school, we know that our home learning systems do work and work well”.\n\n“We anticipate that we will keep doing our learning from home for the first two weeks but then look at ways that we can reintroduce some face-to-face time and we need to do it in a way that our parents will be comfortable with,” she said. \n\nShe said the approach to term two should reflect the attitude of the school community and they worked to cater to the different needs of teachers, parents and students. \n\n“We are still asking parents to keep their children at home where they can and we anticipate that will be the case for the first couple of weeks but we will have more clear advice for families certainly by next week so that they know what term two will look like,” she said. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia
