The secret drinking habits of the Royal Family, including the Queen’s favourite bedtime tipple, emerged for the first time during this month's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
A member of her personal kitchen staff has, however, debunked long-running media speculation that Her Majesty drinks four cocktails a day starting at 11am in the morning.
Her Majesty’s tittle-tat cousin, Margaret Rhodes, started a flurry of stories about the royal family’s drinking habits when she told the press the Queen enjoyed at least one glass of champagne in the evening before retiring to her regal chambers. "She'd be pickled if she drank that much," he said."All I said was she likes a gin and Dubonnet. That's her favourite drink."The Queen’s bedtime bubbles were likely to be from one of the great champagne houses Bollinger, Krug, Lanson, or Pol Roger - which hold Royal Warrants from Buckingham Palace.It is a ruby-red fortified wine infused with herbs and spices including tea, blackcurrant, and quinine.
