As a Senior RPG Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining RPG applications that support business operations. You will work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and IT teams to deliver robust and efficient RPG solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and technical standards.
Design, develop, and maintain RPG applications and programs, including RPG IV and ILE RPG.Develop and integrate applications with other systems and databases, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.Conduct system analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements.Develop and execute test plans to ensure the accuracy and quality of RPG applications. Perform debugging and troubleshooting of issues related to RPG applications, including resolving defects and optimizing performance.Project Management and Coordination:Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes and timely completion.Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for RPG applications, including design specifications, user guides, and technical manuals. Provide regular updates and reports on project status, application performance, and development activities to senior management.Stay current with RPG programming trends, technologies, and industry best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance application performance, scalability, and maintainability. Participate in post-implementation reviews to assess application effectiveness and gather feedback for future enhancements.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications is a plus. 7+ years of experience in RPG development, with a strong background in RPG IV and ILE RPG programming. Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining RPG applications in a business environment.Expertise in RPG programming languages and related tools.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and team members.
