Engineers are working to narrow down areas of two rubbish facilities in a complicated search for the remains of a missing retired Brisbane teacher, who police believe was dumped in a wheelie bin.

Lesley Trotter, 78, a former teacher and keen hiker, was reported missing from her Toowong home on March 28 when her family visited and could not find her. Her wallet and phone were left behind.

On Tuesday, Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said police investigations had so far determined Trotter’s body was placed in a general waste wheelie bin on Maryvale Street, near where she lived, on the morning of March 28. “Those semi-trailers made their way to dump sites at both Rochedale and Swanbank, with Rochedale taking one truck and Swanbank taking five trucks.”Massingham said the rubbish was quarantined over the Easter weekend at both Rochedale and Swanbank to allow engineers and other specialists to narrow down where Trotter’s remains were.
