Rugby Australia will play a key role in deciding the future of Waratahs coach Darren Coleman’s future as part of a broader review into the club’s performance.
For the first time in the Waratahs’ 150-year history, Rugby Australia will help decide the club’s next coach.
The review will be conducted in the coming weeks by an independent high-performance consultant who will then report their findings to RA’s new director of high performance, Peter Horne, and the Waratahs board. The Waratahs have just one win from five Super Rugby matches so far this season and, with Coleman’s contract up at the end of this year, players are in a state of uncertainty. It is unclear when the review of the Waratahs will be completed.
Coleman is in his third season leading the Waratahs and has stated his desire to stay on in the role. Speaking to this masthead last month, Coleman said that he would leave the decision on his future to those above him at the Waratahs.“I know there are people above me who make decisions about my career, and they will do it with the best interest of the organisation at heart,” Coleman said.
