Rob Booth crossed for a hat-trick of tries as Lincolnshire Lions secured a 46-26 home victory in their first ever local derby against Boston Buccaneers.
Further tries from Jon Watson and Booth, who also kicked one conversion, saw the hosts extend their lead to 18 points.Boston reduced the deficit to 24-12 going in at the break after Naylor bulldozed his way through the Lions’ defence for a try, which Hummel converted. Boston battled hard and after a period of intense pressure, captain Stanfield scooted over for another try.
Boston continued to work hard for each other and their determination was rewarded after some strong carrying from the forwards. After a penalty was won on the sixth set, Tom Law crashed over for a try in the corner.Laurence Few, who was named as the home side's man-of-the-match, hit a switch off of Josh White to power through a gap to score the Lions’ final try of the afternoon and Tomlinson added the extras.
