BREAKING: NRL icon John Sattler has died at the age of 80. Sattler captained SSFCRABBITOHS to four premiership victories in the 60s and 70s, and famously led the team to victory in the 1970 grand final with a broken jaw. 9News MORE:
That was one of four premierships he won with his beloved Bunnies, having been named captain of the team in 1967 and that season leading the club to its first title in 12 years.He was inducted into the National Rugby League Hall of Fame in 2008.
He began his career at lock and later transitioned to the front row, and to this day is regarded as one of the toughest players to ever play the game. Sattler's son, Scott, played 203 first grade games and famously pulled off a grand final winning tackle for Penrith in 2003.
