Dalia Ziada, a renowned Muslim writer and liberal democracy activist, has spoken out on running for her life from Egypt after condemning Hamas and backing the rights of Israelis.
A Muslim woman from Egypt who publicly stood up to Hamas has spoken out about her harrowing ordeal having to flee the country after receiving death threats from Islamist extremists.
Deemed a"danger to national security", she was forced to flee Egypt as the government considered her a traitor and Islamist extremists wanted to kill her. "That led to me being punished by both the security authorities in Egypt and also by the radical Islamists in the street," she said. “They target people like me simply because I align with the Western narrative about human rights, democratisation, liberalism, women's rights,” she said.
