Rural Aid CEO Charles Alder says the bushfire “disaster has been so large that it has made an indelible imprint on many peoples’ memories over the summer break”.

Rural Aid, one of Australia's largest rural charities, launched a $25 million disaster recovery appeal to assist 10,000 farmers and 10 million of their animals affected by fires.

Mr Alder told Sky News “while the funding for the fire crisis has been great initially, there is a long tail before we get to rebuild all of these communities”. “This campaign is totally focused on supporting primary producers, rural communities and livestock, and we will be using the proceeds to continue to provide financial assistance to families,” he said.
