Russell Wilson will start Sunday against the Jaguars at London’s Wembley Stadium barring any setbacks, Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said Friday. Wilson missed last week’s game against the Jets with a hamstring injury. More:
It has to start by converting more frequently in the red zone. The Broncos have scored touchdowns on only 23.5 percent of their drives inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. That included a Thursday night loss to the
earlier this month in which Denver produced only three total points in four red-zone trips. Wilson must be more efficient in this area. – The Broncos have scored 100 points through seven games. The only time they ever scored fewer through that many games was a 91-output in 1966. So since the NFL merger in 1970, the Broncos have never scored fewer points to this point in the season than they have this year. There isn’t one easy answer to this question. General manager George Paton said Thursday the staff and players are still getting to know Wilson’s playing style and vice versa, but that doesn’t fully explain why Wilson has a 58.6 percent completion percentage that is on pace to be a career worst.
