Russia has abducted two mayors of Ukrainian cities in a bid to install their own candidates as Vladimir Putin cements his hold on the south of the country. Soldiers arrested Ukrainian mayor, Yevhen Matveyev, head of the city of Dniprorudne in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast on Sunday. The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had demanded the release of Melitopol's mayor after his alleged kidnap by Russian troops.
