Russia seeks out military support from China amid Putin's war on Ukraine
Moscow requested weaponry and additional economic support from Beijing, the New York Times reported Sunday, though American authorities declined to reveal what type of assistance the Kremlin was seeking. Officials also declined to discuss how the Chinese government responded to the potential arms deal.Asked about reports of Russia's request for aid, Liu Pengyu, spokesman for China's embassy in the U.S.
"We are communicating directly, privately to Beijing that there will absolutely be consequences for large-scale sanctions evasion efforts or support to Russia to backfill them,” Sullivan told the network. “We will not allow that to go forward and allow there to be a lifeline to Russia from these economic sanctions from any country, anywhere in the world."
