Russia unveils McDonald's substitute 'Tasty and that's it' after US fast food outlet pulled out of the market amid Ukraine war
Russia has opened the doors of its own version of McDonald's, in what many see as a test as to whether its economy will be able to survive Western sanctions. Russia’s former McDonald’s restaurants have reopened in Moscow under the new name of"Vkusno-i tochka" after the US fast food giant joined an exodus of Western businesses over the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Massive queues were witnessed for the grand opening in Pushkin Square on Sunday. The site is where the first McDonald’s restaurant opened in the Soviet Union back in 1990. The chain's new Director Oleg Paroev said the new name, which translates to “Tasty and that’s it”, had only been settled on a day before the launch.
"Our goal is that our guests do not notice a difference either in quality or ambience," Mr Paroev said.
