A Russian actor who starred in one of Vladimir Putin’s favourite films has slammed his homeland for its war on Ukraine.

Following the interview, Russia’s Investigative Committee chief Alexander Bastrykin ordered criminal charges to be laid against Smolyaninov.

He said traitors would be dealt with under"special rules of wartime" and Russia's"quiet groups of impeccably inconspicuous people who effectively perform them". Over the weekend a Russian missile attack on an apartment building in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro left more than 40 people dead.
