Alec Baldwin's involuntary manslaughter trial collapsed earlier this year after he shot dead a cinematographer while filming the western. The film's director, who was injured in the incident, said he was 'on the fence' about releasing the film.
Alec Baldwin was rehearsing for his role in Rust when a prop gun he was holding fired, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.Western movie Rust premiered in Poland on Wednesday, three years after a fatal on-set shooting killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured its director.
The film — which in a case of tragic irony, centres around an accidental killing — screened on Wednesday night at the low-profile Camerimage Film Festival. It tells the story of an outlaw who rides to rescue his 13-year-old grandson from execution for an accident being treated as murder. Ms Hutchins's mother, Olga Solovey, would also not be attending, refusing an invitation because "there is still no justice for my daughter".
