Margaret Ferrier's removal as MP was confirmed at the House of Commons today
The official process of choosing a new MP for Rutherglen & Hamilton West is now underway after the House of Commons Speaker formally agreed to issue the required writ for the by-election.

Ms Ferrier was removed from her role nearly three years after breaching Covid rules. This summer’s recall petition was instigated after the Commons standards committee ruled in March that she had broken the code of conduct and imposed a 30-day suspension from the Commons chamber.
