Flight FR2970 took off from Tenerife at 8.45pm on Sunday evening heading for the Scots capital.
Engineers inspected the aircraft before it was cleared to depart for Edinburgh and it arrived at 1.10am on Monday morning, reports Edinburgh Live.
Top news stories today A spokesperson for Ryanair said: "This flight from Tenerife to Edinburgh returned to Tenerife Airport shortly after take-off due to a minor technical issue. The aircraft was inspected by engineers and was cleared to return to service before departing for Edinburgh later that same day.”
