Moto GP: Francesco Bagnaia won a dramatic Grand Prix of the Americas after race leader Marc Marquez crashed on lap nine in America.

Round five in Spain in two weeks – Jerez was the site of one of Miller’s four MotoGP victories and where he took his most recent podiums for KTM in 2023 – is somewhere that evokes warm memories.Miller’s good vibes from Austin were erased after a tough weekend on track and off in Doha.
“We’re only three races in I’ve hit the ground running. I feel very comfortable on the bike, which is a massive benefit for me, but I’m just trying to do the best job I can do and help all of us improve. In free practice one, Miller – running 19th of the 22 riders – dumped his bike late in the session at turn four in a crash Pramac Racing team director Gino Borsoi quickly absolved him of blame for afterwards.
“This evening, we went back to our normal base setting and the bike was working really well, I felt confident from the get-go. First tyre felt good but I ran a little deep at 10 … on the second tyre I got through the first sector really nice but when I came out of six it wheelied a little bit too much towards the braking zone, and as I put down the bike shook a bit … I asked a bit too much of the front and she went down.
“It fell off a cliff fairly early; that compound with the cooler temperature doesn’t like it very much. The last corner was where it started going first, and then she was just slipping and sliding everywhere. I tried to nurse it the best I could, but that was all she wrote. We tossed the coin, and it didn’t work out for us.”In qualifying, the final sequence of interconnected right-hand corners of the 16-turn Lusail lap – turns 12-14, long a Miller weak point – bit him when it mattered.
Initially, he felt comfortable and circulated in 15th place in a compacted pack where everyone was trying to make their tyres last on a surface still at 33 degrees at 8pm local time. But on lap eight of 22, when he approached the circuit’s penultimate corner, he sensed his night might soon be over.
