The South Australian Deputy Coroner has recommended the regulation of amusement rides be reformed across Australia after the death of an eight-year-old girl at the 2014 Royal Adelaide Show.
Adelene Leong died after she was thrown from the Airmaxx 360 only 90 seconds into the ride, which had been the subject to two dozen complaints on the east coast of Australia prior to the accident. Deputy State Coroner Ian White said South Australia needed to be the leader in convincing other states and territories to improve the operation of high-energy rides."The evidence of these missed opportunities is likely to produce understandable reactions of frustrations and despair to the public," he said.
