South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas says his government is progressing plans to legislate the state’s own Voice to Parliament – with a bill to be introduced by next calendar year.

“Obviously we want that to work in conjunction with the Commonwealth’s efforts … but we believe South Australia can be a leader in this regard,” he told Sky News Australia.Mr Malinauskas said a national referendum on the issue will be successful because the Australian population “by and large” supports the proposal.
